Baron loved the way that whenever Fauna would talk her hair would fall into her face, covering her eyes, before she would push it back behind her ear only for it to do it again. He loved the way that whenever he would tell a joke she would laugh no matter how dumb it was (and with his sense of humor there were plenty of dumb jokes). He loved the way that her eyes seemed to glow whenever she would talk about things she enjoyed, especially art. He loved how she seemed so confident about herself. He loved how her smile seemed to brighten everything around her. He loved how thinking about her made him smile, no matter how hard he

The Advantage of...Smelling Good?
Dark and roiling the clouds seemed to hover over Baron's head as he pushed his bike under the tree nearest the library, hoping its brownish leaves would offer some protection. Rain bit at every bit of his exposed flesh as he rushed to the library door, covering his body in small pinpricks of pain. Wrenching the door open, a soft sigh escaped his lips as blissful heat washed over him. Quickly stepping inside, he pulled the door shut behind him, making sure not to let it slam.
The heat was a stark contrast to the freezing weather outside. Standing still for a secon

Blissful heat washed over Baron as he opened the door to the library, rain spilling through the opening. The rain outside had been going on for days, and though Baron loved it, it had gotten to the point where it had began to pester him. Letting the door close, he ran his hands over his face hoping to rid himself of the stinging where the icy rain, and the occasional piece of hail, had mercilessly pelted his face. When the feeling finally subsided he threw back his hood, and gave his head a good shake.
"Watch it Baron, this is a library not a swimming pool," said another student as he strode u
Working Title: Love in the Simplest of Things
Synopsis: I wouldn't exactly call it a novel, more a collection of short stories. Mostly though it is about the fluffy, romantic life of two college students. The stories just focus on their everyday lives, and how things happen with a couple that isn't always the norm.
Main characters: Baron, Fauna
Supporting: George, Rhetta
Antagonist: Uh, well there isn't one, so I guess the everyday trials of life.
Baron pushed the metal door that led into the school's main hall, wincing as the combined sounds of the squealing door hinges, and student voices assaulted his head. Rubbing his temples he mentally scolded himself for the large quantity of beer he had drank the night before. Reaching behind him he attempted to unzip one of the side pockets while continuing to walk. After several futile attempts at this he moved to the side of the now more filled hallway, and twisted his backpack around. The strap dug uncomfortably into his left shoulder, and he quickly grabbed hold of the zipper, yanked it to the side, and sa

So, today I received my first acceptance letter for publication while I was driving. I screamed a little in my car.
My short creative non-fiction story "Levee Land" will be featured in the Spring 2013 issue of The Truth About The Fact, an international journal of literary nonfiction. It's set to be released in April.
After twenty years, I can FINALLY say that I'm published. I was pretty sure this would never happen and FINALLY it did.
Don't give up, folks :D

The Reassurance of Green
It was Ella's idea to hire a gardener for my mother's tulips.
"I've been doing fine with them," I had said, a little surprised at the sudden suggestion. My sister had looked pointedly at the small patch of tulips that had previously encompassed the whole side yard. They were already dying, and the bulbs would have to be planted again soon. I had been planning an intense Internet search for that.
"I'd like to see you do better," I had muttered, but agreed nonetheless. I left the actual hiring to my sister, though.
Which led me to this moment, staring at a stranger on my doorstep and hoping rather desperately that there had been a mistake an
Are we still on the two sisters idea?
No.
Okay. What else you got?
Maybe nothing.
You have something, what is it?
I've never written an argument. I've got nothing.
You've had one though. You have you and your experiences and everything that defines you and its okay.
I know. I'm scared.
Does this help? Imagining someone to talk to?
You seem real.
...
And you're not there anymore. Okay. I can do this. Write for someone who looks down on everything I like. Write for someone who looks down on me.
Shall we go over the rules?
Don't write clichéd phrases.
Do you know what that entails?
No. I don't really like how writing has rule

Something Was Bound to Go Right
"Do you believe in reincarnation?" Victor asked suddenly, breaking the comfortable silence in the car. His dark hair nearly blended into the dark sky behind him. Taylor hadn't even noticed he had rolled down the window.
"I have the heat on, idiot," she muttered, rolling up the window from her side. Victor jerked his arm out of the way just before the window rolled up fully, and turned to regard her half-hearted glare with a grin.
"C'mon. Reincarnation. You. Sound legit?"
"No," Taylor said, rolling her eyes. "There's just no way it's possible. And I know you don't believe in reincarnation, either. You've told me that before, when you were t
